Today
is the annual half marathon (plus 5k and fun run) organised by
Macclesfield Harriers. Once again this event will donate 100% of the
profit to charity.
This is a good day to volunteer your
time and put something back into the sport which gives us all so much
pleasure during the year.
We need well over a hundred volunteers to make the event happen so please offer to help if you can.
The jobs that need doing are :-
Course Marshalling
Start & Finish help
Catering
Car Parking
Entries
Baggage Drop
Results help
Publicity
Everybody
who helps each year says what a great time they have - I hope you can
spare a couple of hours to help out. Please contact me if you are
willing to help out.
Thanks
Neil
A blog to keep the members of Macclesfield Harriers Trail Group (Saturday 9.00am Trail Running session) informed about our future runs. We run at a pace of 8m30s -11m00s/mile and have a standard run of about 4-6 miles (depends upon terrain) and also longer runs. Ideally you should be capable of running 5k in under 30 minutes to run with the Trail group. If you want to try out the Saturday group contact group leader Neil Gunn at neil.gunn@gmail.com or just come along for a run!

Saturday 27th September - Flat-and-Fast
The start |
Sadly Anna and Savitri had to cut their run short ()not feeling so well) but always best to take the safe option and run another day. Thanks to Kathryn and Alison for staying with them as well.
So - we did a bit over 5.5 miles at 9m43s/mile pace (one mile was at 9m26s/mile) - exactly what we set out to do!
So, well done everybody ... see you next week!

Saturday 20th September - Teggs Nose Figure of Eight
The start |
This was a challenging route with over 1000' of ascent and some tricky terrain but up and down. I was extremely impressed with how much effort everybody put in ... there was some grinding of teeth on the 'ups' and, like most fell runners, there were some choice discussions about bodily functions!
Well done, seriously well done - I reckon you will 'fly' next week on our 'flat-and-fast' run!
