Saturday 28th October - Reservoir Round

Today 22 D groupers set out for the Reservoir Round in cool damp conditions.

A pacey start from the garden centre, southbound on the canal to Fools Nook, for the obligatory Bridge pic. Upward onto the old Leek road, for a spot of hill work before a loop of Sutton Reservoir. Many fishermen there today, none offered their catch.

The group continued through the copse and over the sodden fields, into Sutton, where we ran through the village onto Parvey Lane and back to the garden centre, for a deserved cuppa.

Well ran everyone!

Saturday 21st October - Sponds Trig or Bramhall ParkRun

Today 13 D group runners defied everything that Storm Brian could throw at us and headed off for a windy, muddy, undulating New route around Sponds Hill. The wind made the run 'challenging' but it failed to dampen spirits. Well done everybody!

Saturday 14th October - Langley 7 recce

The start
Today 12 D group runners were out for a recce of the Langley 7 route. We were lucky with the weather and got some wonderful autumnal lighting. Some excellent running and looping (yes, you know who you are!). The visit to Rossendale was interesting - good to know where the race profits go!. Thanks to Alison Gunn for post-run cake!

Saturday 7th October - Shutlingsloe Scamper without Shutlingsloe!

20 enthusiastic runners were out today to experience the atmospheric forest environment. After a quick 'walking tag warm-up' [ names of those that didn't stand on one leg were noted :) ],  off we ventured. Very low cloud and near zero visibility at the bottom of Shutlingsloe,  meant a slight route amendment, just to be on the safe side!

Much howling and protestations were expected  along the exposed moor towards Standing Stone, due to the muddy bogs, misty drizzle and general wetness! However, the leaders were a tad disappointed as everyone skipped through and even appeared to enjoy. Another note taken; leaders need to try harder with route choice challenges, especially mud provision!

Great running by all!
