Saturday 28th February - Hills, Ridges and Bridges

This week, 5 D groupers undertook the classic "Bridges and Ridges" in reverse. Following their success at the D group taster session, Georgina and Margaret joined D for a tough hilly route.

The elements were kind today, with a calm dry morning to aid us on our way. With only a couple of small loop breathers required, just over 10k was completed by everyone in just over an hour.

What a brilliant run, you should all be very chuffed!

Saturday 21st February - Bollin Valley Car Park

Well, after an unforecast dump of snow at about 8.00am this morning, a group of 10 hardy D groupers met in the Bollin Valley for a run up the Middlewood and canal.

Despite a blizzard in the middle and slippery conditions underfoot we maintained a steady pace.

We welcomed a new member to the group today. Dipika Morgan joined us for the first time and ran well!

Saturday 14th February - Two Trigs and a waterfall

The start

Today was the tough but rewarding 'two trigs and a waterfall' (and we managed White Nancy as well). Some EXCELLENT running today in damp, misty and muddy conditions. Everybody who came along should be really proud of a job well done (trainee fell runners in the making).

Saturday 7th February - a D Group 'taster'

Meeting Place
On a chilly bright Saturday morning, 23, (yes 23!) runners set out along the Middlewood Way northbound, for a D group taster session.

There were a fantastic gang of nervous E groupers, who wanted to test their ability and prove their capability to make the transition from E to D group. The nerves did not last long and the proof was definitely in the pudding!.

We set the pace at  approximate 10:00 minute mileing, with those who are faster, doing plenty of looping back,  the group ran a circuit of around 5.7 miles.

Despite working really hard at times, only two brief Haribo breaks were needed.

Everyone worked really hard and did a frankly brilliant job..... fantastic. Those who were able to make a cafe stop after were reportedly "buzzing", no caffeine required. Thanks to Jenny, Wendy and Harry "the machine" Newton for the additional support.

Well done everyone, will look forward to seeing some permanent movers next week.

You should be proud

Wednesday 4th February - a 'Running Social Evening'

Venue - Park Tavern
As we spend most of our time together actually running we thought it might be nice to have a 'social evening' where we can talk about running and get to know each other a bit better.

Meet anytime from 7.30pm in the Park Tavern, Park Lane, Macclesfield (we have reserved the far end of the bar area).

There will not be any hot food available but we can have lots of crisps, nuts, beer, wine etc

The evening will give us the chance to talk about all aspects of running..
- shoes
- clothes
- technology
- ailments
- technique
- routes
- events
- cake
- cafes
- volunteering
- leadership
- group structure
- anything that takes your fancy!!!

It is not planned to be 'formal' at all - just show up and talk about running!
