Saturday 25th April - D Group Taster

|Meeting Place
Today saw 14 runners, set off from the Viaduct in Bollington for a D group "taster" session. The purpose of this run is to provide the opportunity for the runners in E group to join regular D runners and  experience a D run on a flatter and faster route.

As D group guidelines are running between 8.5 to 10 minute miles for between 4 and 6 miles, our route took in the Middlewood Way to Wood Lane Ends and then back up via the canal with options for all runners to exit back to the start point.

The day was mainly dry, with an April shower toward the end, which was a blessing for some hardworking runners. Everyone did really well, with only a couple of "breather breaks" and plenty of looping for those faster runners, where possible. Check your watches and apps guys, I'm sure your splits will surprise and delight you !

The route ( with looping ) was just over 6 miles and shorter for those who did not loop or who left the canal earlier. Welcome distractions included, mandarin ducks, heron followers and a couple of hairy moo's!

All in all a really great run, really impressed with the effort and tenacity of all the runners.

Well done

Saturday 18th April - Cheadle Hulme Parkrun

The Runners
This week we tried another local ParkRun at Cheadle Hulme - this is a much smaller but very friendly ParkRun based at Manchester Rugby Club. A good number of E & D runners came along to support the event (as numbers have been down a bit recently) and it was a lovely day for bagging a few PBs.

The terrain is a bit 'cross country' so we all needed to concentrate!

Post run discussions took place in the nearby Cafe Express which served excellent coffee and nosh.

Well done guys!

Saturday 11th April - Rudyard Romp

After what looked like being a soggy, wet morning, the sun came out at Rudyard Lake just in time for 16 (a new record) happy D Groupers to enjoy the Rudyard Romp!

This was an extended Rudyard run starting at the Knot Inn, Rushton Spencer. The first 2.5 miles were flat and straight along the track by the lake and then we crossed over the bridge to the cafe side, but no coffee stop! We headed up into the woods and along the track back to the car. There was plenty of looping and circling to keep the group together, and everyone worked well together.

As the Knot Inn was closed for refurbishment we took our own refreshments and had a bit of a social in the car park.

A lovely run, well done everyone, you all ran really well!
