A blog to keep the members of Macclesfield Harriers Trail Group (Saturday 9.00am Trail Running session) informed about our future runs. We run at a pace of 8m30s -11m00s/mile and have a standard run of about 4-6 miles (depends upon terrain) and also longer runs. Ideally you should be capable of running 5k in under 30 minutes to run with the Trail group. If you want to try out the Saturday group contact group leader Neil Gunn at neil.gunn@gmail.com or just come along for a run!

Monday 21st September - Street-O (Tytherington & Bollinbrook)
Section of the map (Dorchester Way) |
You can do this in teams of 2,3 or 4 (but teams must stay together).
You will have one hour (60 minutes) to find as many 'clues' (worth 10 points each) as possible - but don't be late back as there will be penalty points (5 points/minute late). It will not be possible to find all the clues in an hour so strategy is key.
Registration is anytime from 5.45pm in the Bollin Valley Car Park (Riverside Park) and you can start the event anytime you are ready until 6.30pm (you will have a few minutes with the actual map before the clock starts). I don't want people starting after 6.30pm due to fading light.
Bring a pencil and as the nights are drawing in a torch may be handy (although it should still be light at 7.30pm). A plastic bag may be handy if it is wet.
I will release a 'blank' map (no clues) one week before the event so you can get an idea of the area (Bollinbrook and Tytherington on the west side of Manchester Road).
There is a trophy for the winning team.

Saturday 19th September - Mini Track & Field Event
As the majority of leaders are away this weekend there will be no organised D Group run - but we are lucky that the club is holding a 'mini track and field' event for club members to 'have a go' at field events and track events (sprints and endurance). If this does not appeal then keep an eye on Facebook or there are always ParkRuns.
This promises to be a really friendly event just for club members. Details below.
12.15 Onwards Registration and warm up
1pm - 2pm Throws
2pm - 3pm Sprints
3pm - 4pm Jumps
4pm - 5pm Hurdles / Endurance

Open to all members of MH&AC - UKA age group rules apply/all age groups as of 31 August 2015 (min age 9)

(High Jump - maximum of 7 attempts)
For more information contact Kevin Ranshaw 01625 616483 or Bob Lynch 01625 829229

Sunday 13th September - Gawsworth 10k
The annual Gawsworth 10k (and 5k) is on Sunday 13th September. As well as being a good local race with a great atmosphere it benefits the local community and is a club race (you need to be a competing member to run as a harrier remember).

Saturday 12th September - Rudyard Round
Today, a fearless four headed out from the car park between the Knott Inn Public House and the Old Station House for a romp around the lovely Lake at Rudyard.
On a murky morning we set off at pace along the old railway track on a flat section toward the car park and cafe at the lake. Down came the rain and after a quick rest stop, we headed uphill through the wooded paths to reach the house at the top and a lovely view.
The downhill decent was speeded up again by our will to get back to a hot drink and a towel!
What a great run, well done everyone, your determination was impressive.

Saturday 5th September Fools Nook Frolic
Today 22, D runners met on a chilly September morning for a Fools Nook Frolic.
After the warm-up, ( with obligatory hopping ), the group set off at a good pace for the two miles up the canal towpath to the Fools Nook public house.
We then crossed over to overcome a sneaky hill up the old Leek Road and then for a scenic jaunt around Sutton Reservoir. The next part of the journey took us up a wooded path over the fields, reconvening for a "mean Mels circle of doom", then back into Sutton Village.
After discussion, the whole group agreed to run the Parvey Lane loop to complete a full 6 miles, more for those who looped and circled and indeed ( Chris and Twiggy ) some hill fartleks!
It was a really good run, lots of comradery and support and the odd bit of yelling from me ( my apologies I may buy a whistle!).
Really impressed again today, well done all.
