Saturday 25th July - Harry Newton Special

Sarah, Kim, Harry, Potcee & Twiggy
Today due to 'leader absence' Harry Newton led a very sociable 6 mile route around Kerridge, Bollington & Adlington for D group runners. Welcome to new member Kim!

The sun was out and a good steady pace was the order of the day ...and a tea/tea-cake afterwards as well.

Thank you Harry Newton!

Neil

Saturday 18th July - Twisted Hollins Hobble

The start
Today, nine D groupers were out on a blustery day with sporadic bursts of sunshine, for a hilly route that we like to call the Twisted Hollins Hobble.

Beginning at the garden centre on Bullocks lane, we came up the canal northward and headed off at Windmill Street to climb toward the golf club and across the Hollins.

There was a lovely view to take in before descending to the bridge and across to the row of cottages for the "twist". Another steep climb over fields to bring us back to meet Judy lane.

After group agreement, we extended the route slightly to take in Parvey Lane and then loop back to the start.

Welcome back to Suzy, Jo and hello to Graham.

A great run by all and well done Ann for joining Ali and I on our extra training run ( definitely another D group route in there  for the calendar).

Saturday 11th July - Toot Hill Tootle

This morning 12 brave runners met at Tegg's Nose bottom car park for a hilly run around Macc Forest, taking in Toot Hill, the protected site of an ancient burial ground.

Up, up and up we went, passing farms, through fields and over stiles, through the bluebell wood where a short break was taken to admire the wonderful views. Then down Charity Lane to Forest Chapel. On the path down from there we bumped into E Group (all 29 of them)! who were on their way back and were looking good!

We took in the Trentabank ranger station and then looped back behind the reservoir and back to our starting point. 5.4 miles in total. Coffee and cake was enjoyed for those who could stay for a while.

Well done everyone for keeping the group together on a tough hilly run. Remember...the hills are our friends!!Thanks to Neil, Twiggy and Mel for the photos.
