Saturday 23rd January - Twisted Hollins Hobble

A great turnout this morning - 17 runners! Welcome to Sue who joined us for the first time today.

A lovely but challenging run along the canal from the garden centre, then up and over the Hollins (mud! mud! and more mud!). Down into Sutton and up the very steep field! Amazing looping by some people! Around the Parvey Lane loop and then a couple of little fartlek sprints on the home straight! Brilliant running everyone - well done!

Saturday 16th January - Gawsworth Gallop

The start
Today we woke up to find low temperatures, sunshine, frost and the prospect of a 'Gawsworth Gallop' - 11 D groupers donned their gear and set off from the Harrington Arms across frozen fields for a 'mixed terrain' run. The conditions were 'challenging' with the frozen ground doing a good job of trying to twist the ankles but everybody took care and we all returned to base unscathed. The views were stunning ...we are so lucky!

Brilliant run, good looping, good banter, good days.

Monday 11th January - the 401 Challenge

Today is a special event - we have the opportunity to run with Ben Smith as he runs his 133rd consecutive marathon (part of his 401 challenge to run 401 marathons in 401 days). Macc Harrires are supporting Ben and we all have the chance to run some (or all) of the route with him.

The plan is to start at the track at ~9.00am with a talk from Ben and then we will run the first mile with a group of primary school children. After that we will head off for a double lap of the Macc Half route. Approximate timings below.

You can join in anywhere on the route and do as much or little as you want to - the pace is not fast.

Please contact Neil Gunn if you plan to run (neil.gunn@gmail.com).

More information about the challenge can be found at www.the401challenge.co.uk

Saturday 9th January - Styperson Stumble & the Nab

What a brilliant turnout of D Groupers on a not very nice morning!

The Styperson Stumble turned out to be as muddy if not more than had been advertised. Truly 'minging' as they say round here!! But we weren't daunted by the mud or the hills and everyone worked hard. Although the route was just over 5 miles it felt longer with all the slipping and sliding. Well done everyone. A few of us enjoyed a cuppa etc at the Waterside Cafe afterwards.

I think we all agreed that it would be a lovely run in better weather. So we'll probably repeat it in the spring/summer.

Lovely morning...thanks everyone. A few photos below of our exploits!

Saturday 2nd January Bollin Valley Banger

Today on an overcast and quite soggy morning, 10 D groupers headed out along the Bollin Valley for a Banger of a run.

There was rain and there was mud, lots of mud, however kitted out in trails, jackets and mud claws the group kept a great pace for what was the first run of the year for most.

After swimming over the golf course, we headed across to Manchester road for the extension to the Prestbury loop and once we had negotiated the (muddy) wooded area it was steady all the way back along the Middlewood.

Brilliant running, well done everyone!
